Raw talent! Wow.

Music is a means of expression known to all mankind and some say any living being. No matter your race or religion, country of origin or culture, good music are noticed even by the deaf.

Centuries have passed and yet the means of making music have been the same. From an infant, our mouths babble. We learn to clap and stomp. Subsequently we learn melodies and harmonies by phonations. Those privileged enough manage to pick up musical instruments.

Common ones are the piano, guitar, drums. In asia, the gu zheng, sitar and kompang. There are hundreds and probably thousands of instruments.

Today, well more like several years ago this boy introduced an old yet new instrument. And he played it to it's full potential.

Just awesome talent, this kid makes an instrument out of PVC pipe, awsome !!

Among the popular songs he jammed to were: super mario, pirates of the caribbean, final countdown, lady gaga, james bond and etc.

Hope you enjoyed it as much as i did.

The Final Countdown!

11:24pm It's just another day away till my final 2 exams. Monday and Tuesday will be my long and short practical exams - OSCE for those who know it.

Prepared? nope, not even close. Then again, doctors always tell me you'll never be done with studying.

All I'm doing now is as much as i can, the rest i leave it in God's hands. He was good to me during my last 2 papers, so i'm hoping for the same in the coming ones! Hallelujah!

Do say a lil' prayer for me yeah.

Can't afford to resit - 8 months, and $40,000...
No No NO!

i'll know my results by the coming wednesday. Pass, and you'll see much more happening here and brand new Youtube stuffs! - can't wait!

and as said in the above title and picture, here's a special version!

The Final Countdown ~ Chipmunk Style

Christians boring? Think again ;)

So the stigma is, the average christian boy goes to church evry sunday, is all pious, doesn't involve himself in sinful acts (goody two shoes), does well in exams, is a geek who gets kicked in the balls every now and then, is a weasel when someone does something bad, and is the biggest geek who keeps telling everyone come to church!

But no, we're all not like that. We're the same, except some extremists but then again that's found in every religion.

Take a chill pill brothers and sisters!

On the other hand, maybe this may change your mind:

How was that for boring and lame and lifeless?! Haha.
So, YOU COME TO CHURCH NOW! SEE YOU SUNDAY OR ELSE!!!
:p
If you have nothing better to do and have the time, why not give it a try. No pressure. It's a personal choice :)

God bless you and have a great week ahead!

You create the Scene

10:31pm

did u know, playing music is very addictive. it's sorta like reading a book for some. takes you on a journey where you discover new things, feelings, emotions, happiness, fear, and basically where you control the scene :D

Btw, sorry bout' the disappearance for 2 weeks! been busy trying to practice my instruments and addicted to 'Beethoven Virus'. Will be making a new vid extremely soon. Deciding the piece. hehe.

leave suggestions if any!

O O O O and pray for my exam tomorrow at 10am and 2pm! God bless!

A lot has changed through my blogging styles and material since the start of it. Anyhow, here's a cake for me Bloggieeeeee :)

sidetrackkkkkkk -->

And update to the Yamaha DTX drum competition,
.... I
.... am
..... NOT PLAYING!!!
:(

Nah, not much to be sad about. They cancelled the competition due to lack of participation. Sad as I wanted to gauge myself to other drummers locally, but it happens!

Have a great week ahead beautifuls!

a lil update?

ATTENTION: DEAD BLOG DEAD BLOG DEAD BLOG!!!!

that's what you must be thinking now!

.... but NO! I am still around :)

about my life,
  1. I've finished my Internal Medicine posting
  2. Currently in my Family Medicine posting
  3. Waking up is still as late as ever... 7:00am.
  4. Was anxiously awaiting the Yamaha Drum Competition which was... postponed.
  5. The work from studies are piled up as always for some funny reason.
  6. Would like a holiday! with family :)
  7. Need to start studying.... like for real... actually reading.
  8. I'm enjoying life one day at a time.

Things to note, Med school is quite chillaxed if you're a non-easily-stressed person. I guess it really depends what's your aim in life. What you plan to achieve.

**When at a junction that boggles your mind
and toggles your stress hormones (cortisol) on,
breathe in and out slowly,
count to 60 and tell yourself,
MY GOD WILL SEE ME THROUGH!

1st Yamaha DTX drums competition!!!

It's an electronic drums competition; first of its kind to Malaysia - hosted by Yamaha.

And guess what?! I'm entering!!! :))

So this is the video i'm sending in to enter the first round!

Pray i get it! ~ pls and tq!

Drum drum drummmmm!!!

2:51am I'm just sbout to sleep thinking how i'm gonna wake up for church later, but i have to! Anyway, blog posts have been such a bore lately, you can tell. Reason being caught up with work and time just passes so fast.

My internal med posting exam is this coming Thurs at 7:45 am. Haven't had much brain food for awhile... Gotta do well nonetheless. Pray for me yeah :)

Anyway, from the title (read title), i actually made a short video for youtube two days back. Mostly on stick tricks and drumline snare. Hadn't had the time to edit n post it, but it'll be up one of these days.

Oooo... And btw, i've got something interesting to tell you. Will be joining ... ..

Come back again to find out!
Agod bless ya! ;)

If you were wondering...

5:34pm Rather late of an update but you deserve to know. As the previous posts have been about myself in the IMU's Got Talent, and the Semi-Finals were held yesterday! I'm happy to inform you ... I didn't even get through the first round.

No, to me it wasn't a loss. It was mildly disappointing, but expected. Haha!
There's only 3 ways around this:
1. nobody likes my drumming;
2. other people's performances were better;
3. it was more of a popularity contest.

Well, it's not for me to decide. I guess it just means less performances from me :P

Singing or drum solo?

It was a rather tough thing to choose. Even up till when I was right in front of the 100-200 people audience, I was asking myself singing or drum solo?

Btw, I'm referring to the IMU's Got Talent! haha.

Yeah I know in the post I wrote I was bringing back the drums. But the night before I thought to myself maybe I should sing seeing the many technical difficulties I may face with the sound system in IMU. And so I was ready to sing
MOON RIVER by Frank Sinatra.

~moon riverrrr widerr than a mileeeee
La la la la la la somedayyyyy.... ~

I was indecisive hence I asked the audience after singing the first line of the song.

" So do you guys want me to sing, or drum solo? "

and totally ignoring my singing, they said drum solo!!! haha!

It was like... they don't like my singing :( And so with no preparations, I got up there and strut my stuff on the drums!

People said it was good, but I don't know really. To me it was very amateur; my performance that is. At some point the momentum build up of rhythm and beat just died... and after reviewing my performance, I found there was nothing spectacular or interesting about it. Oh well. Maybe I'm just used to my playing or wtv. We'll see if I get through to the next round. hehe.

So vote vote vote me in!

On a minor note, I was totally amazed by one of the performers who did an entire replica of one of Michael Jackson's performances. If you're wondering how good it was, let's just say if I were a girl, I would totally let him bang me that night itself!!!

IMU's Got Talent!

It was a random thought that came across my mind,
and how could i let this opportunity slip by?

Facebook video promo, click here.

As can be seen, I, BeN'Z, has entered myself in this gruesome competition that may bring out talents never even heard of before!

It's just me trying to go for the RM500 1st prize, whilst entertaining the people watching. Also, it's a way to see if I'm up to the challenge and am able to raise the bar!

On a personal note, it's rather unlikely I may win it.
But before thinking of winning, I wonder if going to the finals is even possible.

hmnn...

Thing bout' events like these, it depends on the votes. Many times, in such a community, people don't vote for talent or skills. Most people vote and splurge their cash simply because it's their friend up there! hahaha!

Hence, I'm thinking twice on my stay in this competition. We shall see how many "fans/ friends" are willing to keep me in this game! :P

And btw, if you're wondering, I'm bringing this blog there!

My competition group name is
~ where it only gets better! ~

And seeing this may be my last competition in IMU bukit jalil before I move over to the Hospital years of Med school, I'll be bringing back my major skill which are the
"Drums!"

We'll see how far it takes me with solos, visual moves, and mainly keeping it real on the set!

Wish me luck and if possible do check me out!
I start bangin' at 6pm in LT2 at IMU Bukit Jalil campus...

Drummin Maranatha!

2:22am It's been awhile since I've been playing the drums. Maybe 10 or 11 years now? Actually playing about 6 years. However, I've been serving in the church for around 8 years now. Consistently since 2008.

Thing about it is, this week, by coincidence I've been put to play in the main church! You may not feel the excitement I do, but trust me... WOW!

Although in some sense I feel it's only cause there wasn't another drummer available, but at the same time it's always an honor and pleasure to serve my God!

So if you wanna see how I rip those drums up, head on down to my church this Sunday at 8:30am or 11:00am!

Writers block!

WRITERS BLOCK WRITERS BLOCK WRITERS BLOCK WRITERS BLOCK WRITERS BLOCK WRITERS BLOCK WRITERS BLOCK WRITERS BLOCK WRITERS BLOCK WRITERS BLOCK WRITERS BLOCK WRITERS BLOCK !!!!!! zzzzzzzzZZzzzzz ... . ...

How lame was that?!

But seriously.. I can't think of what to do for my next youtube video! Planning on doing covers but what songs??? And even with that, I find myself asking:

"What do the people want?"

This because, if you've noticed, there are several videos of mine that have claimed the very rewarding 1 or 2 star! Even 3.5 star ain't cool!!!

Hence, if you have any ideas do let me know. Of course, ideas that actually make sense tq! hehe.

Btw, did a new layout!

First video of the year!!!

A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

This year, 2010, I'm ready to do a whole lot. To excel limitlessly and make a difference that would be undeniable. To bring Glory to the Guy above and the family plus friends!

Here's a vid I recorded a week before the end of 2009.

It's a drum solo that brings out many different styles leaving drummers with ideas to play around with.

Random drumming. Awesome? - BeN'Z

Enjoyed it I hope :D I know it's long but it's interesting?

Music dilemma..

11:18am Just awoke after a 13 hour sleep. Boy I feel so much better now compared to the 2 hour sleep and 15 hours of being awake. Anyway, I'm in a dilemma regarding what instrument I should focus on. Again and again it comes to me. hehe. The contest is between the piano, guitar and violin. Not drums because I'm pretty alright with that already. The piano just dazzles me away, guitar makes me feel like a Rock Star, whilst the violin is just emotion and sentiment piercing... Help me?

Cascada Evacuate the dance floor Drum cover!

Yes yes!!! This has been much delayed from the original date of performance. Took the time yesterday to fiddle with the video and do some minor adjustments before uploading it on Youtube!

As some of you may have been anticipating a great performance, I hope not to give you anything less. Hence, cut the chatter and please enjoy:

Music & Dance a MUST!

If you ask any Malaysian who bothers to learn about other cultures apart from theirs, you'd always hear the same thing. The Punjabi's are amazing and the best dancers! They can really move to the beat and play it too!

on the Dhol that is! (The Punjabi drum)

Bollywood today is comparable to Hollywood. It's fame heard throughout the world for many years now. Even more so after the Award winning "Slumdog Millionaire" which touched the hearts of many nations, and made the citizens of India scream for joy!

In Malaysia, Bollywood films are very popular especially amongst the Malays. Other races may find it rather annoying and cliche with the concept of -

"song, dance, marriage, murder, and a tree".

That said, today I'd like to introduce to you a lovely song titled:

'Desi Girl' by [i'm not certain whom exactly]

This song is from the modern chic flic movie titled "Dostana".
Trust me, it's an extremely catchy song with lots of hott girls and guys booty shaking!
You can too!

Went well

1:46am Really glad today's drum cover went well apart from the usual technical difficulties. Thank God! & thk the people who assisted me in set-up and etc :) Real tired at the moment and I hope to get many things done soon. Also, maybe I should be like my other batch mates and study. Haven't even read my notes since the start of the sem. hahaha!
