#TeamGrimmie

Need I say more about the title and this post?

In a gist, Christina Grimmie - a young girl who gained fame through youtube as zeldaxlove64 and the singing talent show The Voice, was shot during an autograph signing event in Orlando by an armed gunman He was then taken down by her brother where the shooter had shot himself. Sadly that took her life despite being rushed to the hospital.

Here's a copy and paste from my Facebook page as I think it summarises all the feels I have when I heard about what happened to Christina Grimmie.

--------------

My heart goes out to ‪#‎christinagrimmie‬ and her family. It's an extremely sad and tragic incident. I still remember watching her videos when she just started out. I began my youtube life around that time too. Her beautiful voice, that keyboard and those Zelda and Sonic posters in the background.
We all seek to entertain whoever watches our videos. Whether our videos get 100 views or even hundreds of thousands or millions, our main purpose is to brighten the viewers day and inspire them to do more than their usual self.
I always tell people, if even one person who was sad or upset after an entire day's work watches my video and laughs or smiles - all that effort or stupidity I put into my video was worthwhile.

If you haven't heard of her, do pay a visit to her youtube channel where he music will always live on and inspire. zeldaxlove64

Do you English or England?

The picture above got me thinking.

How often do we butcher our words. As I speak English primarily, this doesn't occur too frequently. Most often such pronunciation errors occur amongst people who speak it as their second language.

In Malaysia, the national language is Malay. Having said that, not all Malaysians speak Malay. What surprised me even more awhile back is some don't even speak a word of Malay or English despite living here for years/ their entire life.

I made a video about it. You can find it at the end of the page. Back to the topic today - we cannot fault people like the person above who repeatedly said cocknice instead of clockwise. This is because their tongues are not accustomed to pronounce such "r's" and "ss" (if you can imagine what I'm trying to say).

Let me mention clearly that I'm not making fun of this person or throwing racist jokes against Malay, Chinese or Indian ethnicities who do not speak fluent English. We must always look at things from the other person's perspective.

Taking this person and myself as an example.

I speak English well, he speaks Chinese well.
- no intonational errors in our respective languages.
He speaks England, I speak China.

Do you get my drift now?

In conclusion, let's not be hasty to joke about other people (as funny as it may be) like the story of the auntie who was selling coke but kept saying cock. If you don't usually speak Chinese, instead of saying yi tiu (one piece), you may end up saying ni diu (you F**k).

If you can speak more than one language or dialect, you're already awesome!

Have a great weekend all! You're fantastic!

AUNTIE ONLY SPEAK CHINESE !!!

Who on Earth blogs nowadays?!

They say a picture paints a thousand words. Well, that picture says a few words and well.. That's all it needed to say.

My intentions of blogging that started way back in high school more than a decade ago weren't like other kids. Most were to rant about crappy student life, diss the so call "cool kids" without them knowing, and no money to buy paper and a diary so save by typing online (after all nobody reads the nerd's blog).

I began writing (or should I say typing) to better my command of english, essay writing and as a means to channel my thoughts. I also started as back then it was the in thing to own a blog. After awhile the craze continued but I got bored and stopped; restarted in university with ads! Yes, make some money while sharing nonsense that readers like you get conned to read! (jokes)

click here to see my very first blogpost

But the question really is:

Who on earth blogs nowadays?!

Social media has grown so rapidly since a decade ago and in all honesty,
I feel blogs are ... dead. Think about it - there's facebook, instagram, twitter, snapchat, youtube. They're so much more exciting than reading 1000's of words that most of us just scroll past, seeing only the pictures in-between.

You know I'm right! You just stopped to see this line right after all the pictures in-between. Go read the previous paragraph you bum!

Moving on, let's not confuse ourselves with sites like thehuffingtonpost where we read articles so commonly via shares on facebook. Those are professional sites, not blogs. Let's remind ourselves what blogs are via wikipedia:

In a gist, I believe a blog which for some remote reason stands for WEBlog - should be thought of as a Wlog. This is in reference to Vlog, that stands for video log, a Wlog stands for written log. Now don't mindscrew us all by saying, "but Benedict, since you type instead of write why not say Tlog as in typing log". Ain't nobody gonna accept new terminology now. Blog is blog. The end.

In conclusion, you're probably mind-baffled as to why I'm talking about all this. It's simple. I have all the other social media platforms and since someone asked why did I blog again after the prolonged hiatus - my answer is:

I can't be recording myself daily as nobody would like to watch me on a daily basis. Also, writing brings out the more subtle side of me, making me less of a weirdo and lunatic given I'm a doctor.

5 years, Officially a Doctor! MBBS

As the title goes, this morning I woke up as Benedict Sachdev the medical student from IMU.
I will be sleeping tonight as Dr Benedict Sachdev MBBS (IMU).

It has been a long journey of 5 years.

Began on the 28/2/08
2 and a half years pre-clinical phase1 at Bukit Jalil IMU campus
2 years clinical phase 2 at IMU Seremban Campus and half a year at IMU Batu Pahat Campus
Ended on the 28/2/13

The past years have been full of wonderful memories from the
mind blowing orientation of ragging and bullying,
enjoying the daily 2 hour lectures as a holiday,
memorizing FLM's at the library,
practicing clinical skills at the clinical skills unit,
representing the batch, house team and IMU in sports,
attending life changing talks,
having tea in the library and hanging out at the student pool lounge,
rushing assignments like a mad person,
waking up as early as 5 am to get to the hospital,
preparing presentations one after another,
enjoying my life staying next to the beach,
watching movies at the cinema on a near weekly basis,
playing games, youtubing and making videos,
talking with people of superior intellect and ... ,
embracing the government health care system with my now fellow colleagues,
sharing memories and tears with patients,
witnessing life and it's middle and end,
travelling back and forth as the only crazy person from Port dickson to Seremban on a daily basis,
running home on weekends to spend time with family and friends,
studying last minute and passing by God's grace,
staying for the first time in my life with a housemate,
food hunting and tasting with buddies,
hanging out at the shopping mall,
football gang/futsol gang,
sitting exams one after another,
and lastly - enjoying this experience of learning with wonderful friends, lecturers, staff, and most importantly family & God.

Truly I tell you, this course at IMU (international medical university) has been life changing, maturity growing, knowledge overwhelming, fun and leisure filled, and lastly one of a kind!

Thank you my dear family, friends, colleagues, teachers, lecturers, university, hospital and clinic staff, and everyone else who have played even a minor role in my journey at IMU. Most importantly thank you God who without I would not have become Doctor Benedict Sachdev!

Congratulations MeDt108 / C2/10! Press on and be a good impact to society. Always remember, you can do it! FAR OUT!

for those wondering, i got a family medicine case for my exam with ischaemic heart disease, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, fatty liver and alcoholism. I was asked about both my obs&gynae as well as orthopaedics portfolio.

It just gets funnier!!

A short remix of the whole "political" incident. LOL

Politics, never pretty

I just watched a video on facebook. I am unable to share the video here, but if you are interested to know what I speak of - click here.

DISCLAIMER: I do not endorse any form of politics and am of a personal and unbiased opinion. Please disregard them if you do not feel it is right.

To start, I watched this video as it was being shared all over facebook. I shared one myself! hehe

And to give you an idea of why I chose to share this, here are some user comments who shall stay anonymous.

Now, just as I posted on facebook - i am of the opinion that there are valid reasons and points that the parties involved have raised. I do not agree with their conversational and public speaking methods, but in the heat of the moment I guess we could excuse that (sorta).

In a public forum where people are technically of the right to speak out their mind, I feel that there is some fair amount of time given to the student. I do however am rather disgusted by the way the "speaker lady" cut the student off.

She raises the issue of respecting elders and etc, that make sense, but not in this circumstance. Her tone and speech was in essence to just condemn the poor girl in front of everyone else and to show her superiority of "oh i am the boss here you lil' punk ass". A better means of stopping her would be to explain nicely that she would give another few points for the girl to make then it is her turn.

After cutting her off, we then see the nature of this speaker. She not only criticizes the student for having an opinion. Moreover, making fun of her with hypothetical settings of animals. I mean seriously woman, as you mentioned the student's education level is poor, your intellect is also extremely poor because you compare yourself (humans) to animals. If life were as simple as saying, why can't you be like a dog and sit down when i tell you or etc, then you might as well be a dog and let the dog be a human correct?

You may be reading this and feeling some sort of unhappiness from my writing. The reason being I totally hate it when people claim to be of higher maturity/ intellect/ education/ etc - in front of me, when their actions and words they utter are plain absurd and idiotic.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Instead of leaving a wall of text on this post, I leave it to you to decide. What is your opinion?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mine stands firm, the student needs to take the nations spendings as a whole rather than narrow it down to just the education sector and compare it to other countries. She has to realize many other countries with free education are having taxes of almost 50% for high income earners. It is easy to say charge higher taxes - but for those of low incomes are barely affected and it is very unfair to the rest who work equally as hard in their fields and have to return 50% just for the sake of the nation and others who do not appreciate or acknowledge their hardwork and just condemn the rich.

The speaker should have her brains checked when she asks the student to leave the country from her dissatisfaction. As a born Malaysian she has every right to be upset if she feels that the government is not doing her right. It may not be correct what she says, but there are way better means of tackling such situations. Humiliating people publicly and bragging of your "respect" and so called "educated" nature just shows that you are nothing more than a person who is shallow and really not educated enough. Having a degree or masters only means u are educated in a profession to do a specific task. Not an educated and wise person. Never ever, compare humans with animals because the day you do, you should be treated as one to eat grass like the cows and be kept in cages.

A few words that say it all

You raped her because her clothes provoked you?

I should break your face because your stupidity provokes me.

Rape is not a joke. If you know of someone who has done so or plans to do so, follow that statement. Or report it and leave it to the authorities. I prefer the first choice.

This pic was stolen off the infamous facebook newsfeed!

Kids sex chics - prostitution?

Came across this on the evergreen (or blue technically) facebook wall. It's about how young boys are having sex with chics!

Now i know what's going on your mind. You're either thinking of wow, eew, or liar.

I assure you this is probably as weird as it gets. I've heard of all sorts of sex, but this takes it to the next level. Probably the kamasutra needs to be updated :P

Here's the video :- enjoy? err...

Nicaraguan Boy Likes To Have Sex With Chickens! (Mother Trying To Find Him A Prostitute Instead)

Below is one with a hilarious crude-ish commentator.

Boy Likes To Do It With a Chicken

Not what you were expecting? Yeah he has sex with chics. Not female girl prostitutes but animal chicken chics. DAMN!

On a random note, our creative and innovative homosapien somewhere has created a robot prostitute. Now does that mean screwing this = cheating on your spouse? haha!

Malaysian Indian minor abused by step-father!

At times like these, i get thrown back into reality that the world is a sickening place. Words cannot describe the feelings that i had when watching this video.

It may be old news for some of you, but I strongly encourage everyone to watch this and ponder at it.

(DISTURBING VIDEO) Step Father Abuses Son!

I hope none of you end up like this man in the future. If you are doing this now - I want to swear all sorts of words at you... May God save your sick soul, mind and body.

Suck on someone else!

I hate it when i get sucked. It never feels good. Somehow, I'm the one that always get it. There would be other guys around me, but I would be the chosen one.

Please read what I said, I mean it with all my heart. Sorry to have to reject your loving nature.

Smokers - food for thought

Once again, stuck by brilliance on my facebook wall.

A gist about this story - a girl talks to a guy about smoking. the guy explains his smoking habits and the girl does some math with him. conclusion is the best part :)

------------------------------------------------
Lady: Do you smoke?
Guy: Yes I do.
Lady: How many packs a day?
Guy: 3 packs.
Lady: How much per pack?
Guy: $10.00 per pack.
Lady: And how long have you been smoking?
Guy: 15 years
Lady: So 1 pack is $10.00 and you have been smoking 3 packs a day which puts your spending per month at $900. In 1 year, it would have been $10,800. Correct?
Guy: Correct.
Lady: If 1 year you spend $10,800, not accounting for inflation, the past 15 years puts your spending total at $162,000. Correct?
Guy: Correct.
Lady: Do you know if you hadn't smoke, that money could have been put in a step-up interest savings account and after accounting for compound interest for the past 15 years, you could have by now bought a Ferrari?
Guy: Oh. Do you smoke?
Lady: No.
Guy: Then where's your Ferrari?

brilliant isn't it?!
Probably we could have reversed the story with a woman's shopping habit!

Choices in dilemmas

Have a look at the picture, what do you see?

You probably guessed it right, it's a foot. And that's a pregnant lady. hehe.

But moving on, i found this article on facebook and i feel it's a good read. So enjoy and make your own conclusion at the end :)

--------------------------------------------------------

A worried woman went to her gynecologist and said:

'Doctor, I have a serious problem and desperately need your help! My baby is not even 1 year old and I'm pr
egnant again. I don't want kids so close together.'

So the doctor said: 'Ok and what do you want me to do?'

She said: 'I want you to end my pregnancy, and I'm counting on your help with this.'

The doctor thought for a little, and after some silence he said to the lady: 'I think I have a better solution for your problem. It's less dangerous for you too.'

She smiled, thinking that the doctor was going to accept her request.

Then he continued: 'You see, in order for you not to have to take care of 2 babies at the same time, let's kill the one in your arms. This way, you could rest some before the other one is born. If we're going to kill one of them, it doesn't matter which one it is. There would be no risk for your body if you chose the one in your arms.'

The lady was horrified and said: 'No doctor! How terrible! It's a crime to kill a child!'

'I agree', the doctor replied. 'But you seemed to be OK with it, so I thought maybe that was the best solution.'

The doctor smiled, realizing that he had made his point.

He convinced the mom that there is no difference in killing a child that's already been born and one that's still in the womb. The crime is the same!
